"The Fiery Trial" by Eric Foner is a thought-provoking exploration of Abraham Lincoln's evolving views on slavery and race. Foner delves into the complex political landscape of the Civil War era, shedding light on Lincoln's transformation from a cautious moderate to an advocate for emancipation and equality. Through meticulous research and insightful analysis, Foner challenges preconceived notions about Lincoln's motives and actions, offering a nuanced portrait of a leader grappling with the most pressing moral issue of his time. "The Fiery Trial" is an essential read for anyone seeking a deeper understanding of Lincoln's legacy and the struggle for civil rights. This book was one of the main inspirations for including Abraham Lincoln's impact on the United States in my undergraduate research, and highly recommend Foner's materials to this day.

"Killers of the Flower Moon" by David Grann is an extraordinary book that should be on everyone's reading list. With meticulous research and captivating storytelling, Grann exposes the brutal murders of the Osage tribe and the systemic corruption that plagued their pursuit of justice. This gripping true crime narrative, intertwined with the birth of the FBI, offers a compelling exploration of America's dark past. It's a must-read that sheds light on forgotten history and reminds us of the resilience and strength of marginalized communities. This book was a staple of my London 2023 trip, and I couldn't put it down the entire trip absolutely recommend it to all readers.
